Eklin's 100^th RapidStudy Customer – Six Months Later

Just last December, Eklin announced the company had installed its one hundredth RapidStudy™ DR system at the Drake Center for Animal Health in Encinitas, Calif. Now, with almost 200 RapidStudy DR systems installed, we wanted to give an update on the Drake Center story and their commitment to providing their patients with the best care possible.

At the time of installation, founder Michele Drake, DVM, indicated, “We are deeply committed to providing our clients and patients a medical diagnosis as rapidly as possible and begin treatment immediately. Using Eklin’s RapidStudy system, we find that the image is far more detailed than conventional film-based x-rays which gives us the ability to more quickly and accurately determine the patient’s specific medical issues.”

Dr. Drake’s practice partner, Kathy Boehme, DVM, also added, “In addition to improved image quality and diagnostic speed, Eklin’s DR system greatly enhances our workflow and increases our productivity. These advantages lead to greater patient imaging compliance and help increase our volume of radiographic procedures. Bottom line, though, is we want to practice the best medicine possible.”

Eklin personnel have stayed in contact with Dr. Drake and Dr. Boehme over the last several months as the Center continues to grow along with its RapidStudy DR exams and client base. Dr. Drake reports that her staff is also happy as well.

“We compared our radiographic volume from the same time period in 2004 to 2005 after having the RapidStudy system five months,” said Dr. Drake. “Since then, our radiographic procedures have increased by 33 percent compared to a practice growth of 15 percent. In addition, although we have always had a positive and upbeat staff committed to the best medical care possible, the RapidStudy has made their hectic lives so much easier, we have seen a noticeable increase in morale as well.”

The Drake Center was founded in 1992 by Dr. Drake, when she purchased a previous practice. Under the partnership of Dr. Drake and Dr. Boehme, the practice has grown to five doctors plus a staff of more than 20 professional veterinary medical care providers. The Center specializes in providing healthcare for a wide variety of small animals including cats, dogs, rabbits and other small mammals. Services ranging from wellness care, surgery, critical care, dental, grooming, acupuncture and radiology are available at the Center. Dr. Boehme graduated with her DVM from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine and Dr. Drake is a 1989 graduate of the University of Missouri, School of Veterinary Medicine in addition to being certified in Veterinary Acupuncture.
