Veterinary Cancer Group

More than 1300 cancer patients visit the Veterinary Cancer Group each month, the only oncology practice to provide three board certified veterinary oncologists, two residents and a radiation oncologist in the country. Started in 1990 by Dr. Mona Rosenberg, VCG fills the needs of oncologic patients throughout Southern California and has grown steadily over the past 10 years. In fact, there are now two full time VCRG locations spanning Orange and Los Angeles counties which offer state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic care. Radiation therapy is available at both locations using a 6MeV Linear Accelerator with electrons. Diagnostically, VCG operates a Hi Speed Helical CT, 3D radiation planning and Eklin's RapidStudy EDR6 digital radiography systems.

"Our Eklin systems have made a significant impact on our practice," said Dr. Rosenberg. "In terms of workflow, with the Eklin Digital Practice® we can send digital images to our referring radiologist at the touch of the button, whether she's at our Los Angeles facility or at home. And the images are absolutely amazing. This is one of the best investments we have made."

The staff at VCG strongly believes in a team approach in providing the best medical care available. The team includes not only the doctors working together to share ideas and innovations on challenging patients, but also the involvement of the referring veterinarian and the pet owner. VCG team believes in power through education. VCG doctors have completed internships and residency programs in oncology, have published papers in refereed journals and act as consultants for several national laboratories and e-businesses.

VCG has 12 chemotherapy nurses who have undergone specialized continuing education in the field of oncology. Together, the nurses have over 30 years of experience in treating cancer patients. The combined expertise allows VCG to participate in numerous multi-institutional clinical trials. This affords VCG the ability to offer patients cutting-edge treatments often not available to non-study participants. By working together with other veterinary specialists, general practitioners and pet owners, the team at VCG knows they can meet their ultimate goal of providing quality of life for all.
