ROYEA JOINS EKLIN MEDICAL SYSTEMS AS VP OF WORLDWIDE SALES
Healthcare Industry Veteran to Head Rapid Sales Growth of Leading DR and Image and Data Management Developer
Santa Clara, Calif. February 26, 2008 Eklin Medical Systems, a leading developer of digital radiography (DR), PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) and practice management software (VIA™) for veterinary care practices, today announced it has appointed Robert Royea as vice president of worldwide sales. Royea is a long-time healthcare industry executive with significant experience in medical device and PACS solutions.
"Rob joins Eklin at a critical growth point as we continue our rapid expansion in the veterinary care market," said Gary R. Cantu, president and CEO of Eklin. "With a growth rate of more than 45 percent in 2007, Eklin has become a recognized leader in digital imaging and data management systems. We look to Rob's extensive expertise in helping us drive further growth while continuing to provide state-of-the-art solutions for our clients' practice needs."
With approximately 25 years of sales and marketing management and operational experience, Royea has held senior executive positions with leading medical device and PACS companies including Acuson, AGFA Healthcare and Siemens Medical Systems. He has overseen the implementation of numerous complex business models such as hospital, computer and radiology systems (HIS, CIS, RIS) and PACS. Royea has played a key role launching new technologies in the healthcare market world-wide, including successfully growing businesses from multiple millions to more than a half billion dollars in revenues.
"The proliferation of digital technologies throughout veterinary care certainly mirrors similar growth within the human medical market which has occurred in the past few years," said Royea. "The Eklin Digital Practice™ provides many solutions in both digital imaging and image and data management while greatly enhancing workflow. This is an ideal combination and helps bolster our position as a primary leader in the evolution of digital technology in this market."
Eklin provides a number of digital and data management products including DR, PACS and Practice Information Management software (PIMS) for equine, exotic and small animal practices. Using the Eklin Digital Practice, veterinarians can obtain images in seconds, then store, review and archive the images at the touch of a button. It also offers sophisticated image processing tools, giving the clinician much greater depth of information that can be enlarged or manipulated for far better detail, resulting in closer scrutiny of potential areas of concern. All of Eklin's digital technologies are built on full open DICOM standards, the medical industry's digital imaging and storage protocol. This allows practices to select products from multi-vendors with the same open standard and be able to fully integrate these other digital systems within the practice.
"Our clients are increasingly demanding the freedom to choose whichever vendor best suits their needs," said Cantu. "Rob's background and understanding in both human and veterinary medical care will help to ensure we take into consideration not only current, but our clients' future needs as well. We look forward to an exciting 2008 under Rob's leadership."
According to Cantu, Eklin also recently appointed Laurie Hallwyler as vice president, corporate communications. Hallwyler has more than 25 years experience in corporate and marketing communications with extensive experience in healthcare. Having consulted with Eklin for more than three years, she also previously held similar positions with Acuson, R2 Technology and other medical device companies.
